Sometimes I get asked, “Is there another way I can make supplemental income?”
Many of us young adults don’t really have money to manage in the first place. As such, we need supplemental income to help us reach our investing and savings goals.
In this post, I am going to go over a way you can make supplemental income while simultaneously doing something that makes use of your passions and interests.
Not only will you have the income to reach your investing goals faster, but you will also have some fun doing it!

One way to make supplemental income, that I feel is particularly effective and well-suited for young adults, is to start an internet business.
What do I mean by internet business? I don’t mean that you become an ebay aficionado or a professional spammer, nor do I mean that you become one of those sketchy internet marketers. By internet business, I mean selling something that you know or are passionate about. For instance, you may be a great ukulele player and love playing it. With an internet business you can sell what you know offering information and resources for amateur and beginner ukulele players.
What’s great about this kind of business is that it first requires very little money to get started. All you need is a website, which will only cost you a few dollars a month for hosting and around ten bucks for a domain name (if you do it the right way). Since you are selling information that you know, it can be an extremely cheap product to make.
As such, the profit margins are fantastic as you are selling a product that requires little money to make.
Furthermore, you get to make money off your passion. Thus, you actually get to have a lot of fun with your business interacting with customers who enjoy your interest as much as you and working on something you love to do.
Last but not least, an internet business doesn’t take any time at all. You can easily run a successful business part-time without it overwhelming you or monopolizing your free time. I have run such businesses before and I only spent a few hours a week working on them.
What makes an internet businesses so well-suited for young adults is that it allows you to easily start a business with a steady stream of income without having to taking a high level of risk. The process of starting the business is a easy as starting a website. Furthermore, unlike other businesses, you aren’t throwing nearly as much money into the business or taking out loans for the business. Thus, there is very little financial risk in starting this kind of business.

The guys over at Internet Business Mastery have a fantastic site for learning how to start and maintain an internet business. I suggest you give them a shot by listening to their podcast and joining their mailing list. They provide a lot of great free tips and advice. Furthermore, they have a paid membership service that goes further into the details and lays the A-Z groundwork for starting an internet business.
